Welcome to my site

In my large experience I realized that the pianist is a free human being, capable to flight in a figuratively way and interact with the world of Art. At the same time I became aware of the healthy benefits, the physiological impact and the tension tamer of music.

Artist's Description

Felix Spengler - Konstantin Litvinenko

Felix Spengler, founder and Director of the Ars Musicum Academia, was born in La Habana, Cuba.

He began his musical career at the age of 7, studying violin and piano at the Amadeo Roldan Conservatory and the Escuela Nacional de Arte. His family fled Cuba during the Mariel boatlift of 1980.

Upon arriving in New York, he was immediately accepted as a student by the renowned Russian pedagogue Mme. Nina Svetlanova of the Moscow Conservatory and the Manhattan School of Music.

In 1991, he was awarded his Bachelors and Masters Degrees in piano performance from the Manhattan School of Music. He has also studied conducting at the Julliard School under the tutelage of Vincent LaSelva and is currently completing his doctorate at Rutgers University in New Jersey.

As a performer, Spengler has delighted audiences from Barcelona to Salzburg to New York with his commanding stage presence, wonderful musicality, and superb technique.

His work has been lauded by the Amsterdam News for its "dazzling technical virtuosity" and The Main Liner Times of Philadelphia for "bringing the audience to its feet".

Following a performance at the Lincoln Theatre in Miami Beach, Diario de Las Americas credited Mr. Spengler's success to his "formidable talent".

He has given numerous solo recitals and chamber music concerts and has accompanied well-recognized vocal and instrumental artists in venues such as Yale University's Sprague Hall, Hubbard Hall in New York, Philadelphia's La Salle University, and the Museum "Caja Madrid" in Barcelona, Spain.

Spengler was a finalist in both the Florida West Coast Chopin Piano Competition and The Music and More Awards in New York City. Recent noteworthy television appearances include "The Sabina Christiansen Show", which aired nation-wide on German television to showcase EXPO 2000 in Hanover, Germany.

Spengler performs a repertoire that spans both his classical and Afro-Cuban roots. His CD album, "Two Spheres", released on the Piu Mosso label, features compositions by Ernesto Lecuona, Ignacio Cervantes and Manuel Saumell. This CD has brought Mr. Spengler extensive media attention from prominent classical radio stations, such as WNYC, as well as National Public Radio.

He was featured on a live performance and interview for CBS TV's "Eye on the People", and WLRN TV "Beethoven and More".

This Spring, Mr. Spengler has been invited to play Rachmaninoff's Second Concerto on the 100 anniversary of the composer's work in Rachmaninoff's own hometown in Russia, with the San Petersburg Symphony Orchestra.

Currently he has a private studio with talented students and also collaborates with established opera singers as well as chamber musicians.

While in the conservatory, he gained a cello position at the Odessa State Opera Theater and soon became a soloist in the orchestra. He finished his studies in 1993 with Master of Fine Arts degree.
